What is PRP? PRP stands for platelet rich plasma that is obtained using a patient’s own blood. The process requires blood draw, and then spinning the blood in a centrifuge to separate out the blood components. The majority of the red blood cells will be discarded. The plasma, platelets, a small amount of red cells, and white cells will be reconstituted to use for injections. PRP contains many growth factors and inflammatory mediators that promote cell reproduction and tissue regeneration, accelerate healing, and decrease inflammation.

How do we use PRP?
PRP is gaining wide popularity as a natural, non-operative option for a broad spectrum of medical disorders. Its use spans across multiple specialties to include orthopedic, dermatology, urology, gynecology, and dentistry. At North Texas Skin and Laser Center, we focus on the rejuvenative and restorative effects of PRP in anti-aging, hair growth, skin disorders such as acne scars, melasma, and rosacea.
